Success Story: Flight Standards Service of the FAA

The Flight Standards Service of the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) promotes safe air transportation by setting regulations and standards for certification and oversight of airmen, air operators, air agencies and designees. The service employs over 5,400 people and its work impacts the millions of travelers that fly on commercial or private aircraft throughout the United States and the world every day.

The FAA has had a well-documented legacy of working complex changes. Recent years has led many government agencies, including the FAA, to recognize the need to become more effective at leading and managing change. The Flights Standards Service internalized this charge and, in 2014, pledged to embed a new mindset, skillset and toolset for leading change.

Project Success: Workday HCM Integration and Implementation at The Texas A&M University System

In 2015, the Texas A&M University System was still reliant on a payroll system that was 35 years old, expensive to maintain, and difficult to adapt. Additionally, this system no longer followed business best practices. The A&M System selected Workday as the right cloud-based software for their new human capital management system. Workday would integrate HR, payroll, and other solutions and would also simplify and standardize processes while minimizing overhead.

Success Story: Academic Health System

In late 2015, a health system based in Chicago, Illinois, announced that it was integrating two new organizations. This expanded the system’s presence to multiple hospitals and nearly 100 locations.

Success Story: Global Bank Establishes Change Management as Core Capability

An international bank with over 80,000 employees and 16 million clients worldwide recognized an increased need for organizational change management capability. The volume and pace of large-scale change drove the need for this bank to be more purposeful and more consistent at achieving return on key strategic investments. Senior executives set a mandate to execute on change in a more structured way, and in early 2011, an Organizational Effectiveness (OE) team was commissioned to determine a plan and a strategy.

The University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) is one of the top 15 research universities worldwide. The institution is home to over 12,000 staff members working in both the academic and administration sides of the organization. In early 2014, UC San Diego initiated a Strategic Plan that would result in significant changes in every part of the campus and that would impact all members of administrative staff and faculty.

Success Story: Change Capability Maximizes Efficiency in State Government

Colorado is a rapidly growing state with an expected 92% increase in population by 2050. To support this growth, Colorado needed its Department of Transportation to expand its operations without an accompanying increase in budget. Improving operational efficiency was identified as the way to ensure that Coloradoans could continue to safely and quickly commute and travel within the state.
